What Are Breanna Stewart’s Long-Term Goals?

Glad you asked…..

After last night’s 37-point performance, Breanna Stewart talked about an impromptu meeting she had with Geno Auriemma that quickly turned into an exchange of philosophical viewpoints.

“We talked about my goals and ways I need to need to reach them,” Stewart said. “It was an unexpected conversation. I just walked into his office to say hello. It was an off day. And I sat down and we ended up talking for a long time. It helped. I think sometimes that critiquing everything you do and how you approach practice helps you see things differently.”

Geno said it was an interesting conversation.

“When you sit down with her and we talk there’s a lot of things that she still wants to get better at,’’ Auriemma said. “[Tuesday's performance] probably is an indication of all the things that she can do. It’s fun to watch. When she gets going like that it’s fun to watch.’’.

Stewie said Geno asked her what her long-term goals were for herself. And this is what she said:

“I have a few different ones. I want to be the best player in the country,’’ Stewart said. “I want to win a national championship. And I think goals like winning a national championship every year, not just win one national championship. I want to win four if I’m going to be here for four years.’’
